PNAU – The Truth (’96 Bulls Remix)

This morning I woke up to 27 centimeters of snow and all I can say is thank my cotton socks that it’s summer in Australia.

Because without the sweet sweet summer sounds from our boys PNAU and the Bulls, I’d be shoveling myself a 6-foot powdery grave. But instead, I can put on my headcans, close my eyes, and listen to yet another killer remix from the mysterious Bulls.

The long-awaited comeback single “The Truth” from Australian pop royalty PNAU has been remixed with the signature Bulls sound – gotta love those drops.

And to top it all off, there’s a FREE download! Check that shit.

Les Loups – Save The Night

Les Loups - Save The Night

Funk guitar picks, groovy bass, short punchy vocal samples, eclectic horns and shout-along bridge vocals. These ingredients make for the most delicious of baked goods, and like a fat kid loves cake, I love this track.
Just have a listen, you will enjoy.

Les Loups are from Hanover, Germany and are a combo of Gonzo Montaña and the duo AveMaria. And hot dayum they produce some tasty treats. Have a look at these as well. Wonderful.

Black Cards - Dominoes (Oliver Remix)

Well, we first heard Oliver back in mid December and ever since, everything the duo touches turns into bangas. Whether they be slower-paced disco jams, or high-energy electro killuhs, you’re not gonna find any trouble stomping your feet. Me thinks 2011 will be gigantic for Oliver, I does.

The Phantom’s Revenge – Charlie EP

The Phantom's Revenge - Charlie EP

If you haven’t heard of The Phantom’s Revenge, all you need to know is that he’s one of the French masters. Released last December, the Charlie EP is chock full of delicious french/disco house, front to back. And he must be a fan of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, judging by all the samples in the title track.

My top three of the EP (in order of HOT DAYUM-edness):

Ocelot – Vincent’s Theme

Ocelot - Vincent's Theme

Well two posts in a row for these kids, but I heard this one after the fact, and I couldn’t resist. This is an über funk treat, with a touch of Disco class and smooth raspy synths. Keep an eye on these boys.

Ocelot are James Welsh and Cory Kilduff and apparently do a lot of work via the internet with James in the UK, and Cory in Texas. Well I’ll call this long distance relationship a success.

Ocelot – Beating Hearts (Louis La Roche Remix)

Happy Monday everyone, and if it’s not, papa Wicks is here to take care a you. Today we have Louis La Roche‘s work on a track from fellow UKers Ocelot. A high-energy indie electro jam with housy vocals and piano riffs.

Definitely fist pump friendly.

Canadian Government – Stop the Meter

We don’t normally do this here on – we usually stray from anything political. But this directly impacts us, our website, the music industry, DJs and all Canadians.

In November the government passed a bill to allow ISPs to freely impose usage-based billing. This means we’re looking at a future where ISPs will charge per byte, the way they do with smart phones. If we allow this to happen Canadians will have no choice but to pay more for less Internet.

Sign the petition below or visit the Stop the Meter website.

Druma Kina – Walking Away EP

Released last Monday, Brazil based Druma Kina’s new EP “Walking Away” is fly as shit.

Featuring vocals from Shell Heaven Lee, the original track is smooth and tasty. Also on the EP are remixes by Cosmonaut Grechko, Cavaliers of Fun, Kamei, Leadhead, and Montauk, as well as two other original tracks, Cactus Party and Weekend ’89.

Following the Radiohead “Name Your Own Price Model”, you can download the entire 8-track album for free.

Monarchy – The Phoenix Alive (Kris Menace Remix)

Monarcy - The Phoenix Alive EP

Last year Monarchy released an EP for the track “The Phoenix Alive”, a wonderful piece of indie electro that fits perfect with this lazy afternoon I’m having, you can have a listen to the original here.

And for a more spacey and somber mood, Kris Menace puts work on the track, adding a deliciously crunchy couple of drops in the mix. Put on your head cans, turn the volume up and brace yourself at 2.28 into the track. Enjoy.

GD and TOP – Knock Out (prod. by Diplo)

While hanging out on Mad Decent’s blog, I came across this video of a K-Pop (Korean Pop) crew with a track produced by Diplo. And in his opinion, these kids have more skill and style than US rappers:

Diplo: “these are my favorite new rappers” and “the styling is sooooo much better then US rap its really sad.”

I gotta say, I’m diggin’ this track a lot, the hook is killin’ me: “This is double double, double double, combo, double double, double combo, this ain’t bubble bubble…”

So peep the video, ballllin':

And here’s a low bitrate freebie for you folks:

Herr Styler – Jack (Remixes)(Video)

This duo from Italy (but currently found in Paris) just released an EP this past Monday, and features remixes by Moullinex, Fare Soldi, Ari, and Depressed Buttons. Plus, they’ve made an awesome zombie video for the single “Jack”:

Fare Soldi took “Jack” and gave it a bit of tempo and a nice crunchy grind:

Louis La Roche + Armand Van Helden – Previews

Is it just me or is 2011 blowin’ up already?

I’ve got two amazing previews here, the first is a remix by a favorite here at REMIX86, Louis La Roche. And this is beyond a tease, even as a 1.25 preview it’s still ear porn. Checkkkk it:

And second, here is Bag Raiders “Sunlight” as remixed by American Armand Van Helden who has very effectively made this track club ready. This is only a low-quality rip, you can find the full version on the Clubbers Guide to 2011.

I Blame Coco – Quicker (Shook Remix)

I Blame Coco

I stumbled across this indie funk biscuit last night, and today I have it on repeat. Shook is always killin’ it with soulful slower-paced productions, designed to melt that winter-induced frigid mood and get your head tipping back and forth. An excellent side to your balanced breakfast. Enjoy.

Coachella – Music and Arts Festival 2011

Tickets for the 2011 Coachella Music and Arts Festival went on sale yesterday and they are selling fast. You can easily see why when you check out the lineup that was released last Tuesday.

Chromeo, Duck Sauce, Robyn, Marina and the Diamonds, Afrojack, Empire of the Sun, Two Door Cinema Club, Yelle, Delorean, Foster the People, The Twelves, DFA 1979 (Reunion), The Black Keys, Kanye West, Kings of Leon, Arcade Fire, and so, so many more.

This is by far one of the best Coachella lineups in years, so it’s not surprising that tent spaces sold out within the first hour. But if you can’t make it down this year, fear not. We’ll be covering the whole event live through and our Facebook and Twitter feeds.

This makes me so excited I want to get all naked wizard and express my sheer love for this festival.

Warning: this video may make you laugh or feel extremely nauseous. On another note, can anyone explain this downstairs mixup?

Rüfüs – We Left (Ride The Universe Remix)

Ahh some nice dreamy nu disco to take my mind off the work I’m supposed to be doing.

Here we have Ride The Universe, a new collaboration between German digitalfoxglove and the Californian trio Fiero. They have two remixes up for high quality download, my favorite of the two being their mix of Rüfüs’ “We Left”. Delishhhh, throw these on and let your stresses melt away.
