Ten Track Recap (11/11) – Hot Biscuit
It’s time again for our monthly edition of the Ten Track Recap, and this time the November recap is brought to you by none other than, me (Hot Biscuit).
The last two months we were privileged to have some amazingly talented producers try their hand at the recaps, and after listening to their mixes and chatting with them about their mixing experience, it made me really want to have a go at the recap again (check out my May 2011 and other Ten Tracks here).
The recaps are so much fun to produce, but really challenging at the same time. I went through all our posts from the October archive and picked my top ten, and when I started playing around with the tracks in Ableton, I realized how different they all were from one another. There were a few times when I was really tempted to switch out a song or two to make things easier, but after a few hours of manipulating, panning, chopping, and filtering tracks, I came out with an end result that I’m really happy with, and that I think that does justice to October’s top chunes.
My favourite part of producing this mixtape was melding songs together to make mini-mashups within the mix. Check it out at 12:24 (Oliver x Eight Bit Tiger) and 23:00 (L’Etranger x Designer Drugs).
