Mr.A & Something Good – B.A.B.E (Lenno Remix)

Lenno

Don’t recognize the handsome young gentleman above sporting the Top Billin swag? Well take some time out of your Saturday to get familiar, you’ll thank me.

The Finnish 16 year old’s profile is full of quality jams that really stand out with his unique funk tinged nu disco style.

Lenno’s latest remix of B.A.B.E. by Mr.A & Something Good is such an enjoyable listen. Retaining the dreamy feeling from the original, he adds some really sexy synths to the mix to bring up the mood, turning this into a late summer night anthem. All that laid over thick bass and beat, this is a palms out jam to say the least.

Flight Facilities - Foreign Language

Ah nature. The place where you can kick back, relax, enjoy the sounds of birds chirping and waves crashing, the views of mountains and ocean, and of course, the use of sweet, sweet, internet.

We posted this new Flight Facilities track on Facebook and Twitter the other day from their release on triple j, and now it’s official. The Sydney duo’s second single, Foreign Language featuring Jess (Higgs), has been widely anticipated since their first solo hit Crave You featuring Giselle last year. It’s easily one of the most obsessive songs I’ve had on my playlist (I even learned the piano and synth riffs to play along). I didn’t think it could get any better, but now I’ve found a new FF track to obsess over. Have you?

Peep your eyes on the official video below.

Available digitally now in Australia (worldwide tomorrow) via Future Classic, you can purchase it on iTunes here, and expect a vinyl release August 29 with remixes by Will Saul, Drop Out Orchestra & Rocco Raimundo. Enjoy.

Boss In Drama - Pure Gold

I have to thank my new friend Boots Boogie of Hotmess DJs for turning me onto this, because these tracks have seriously made my afternoon.

Boss In Drama is a Brazilian Producer/DJ who is actually a boss. The 22 year-old kills it every time, as you may have noticed from his remixes of N.E.R.D.’s Hypnotize U and Miami Horror’s Sometimes. His newest track, Pure Gold, is a “glitz-funk” party in your ears with 80s Italo-disco and funk elements. The title track off his upcoming debut LP, keep an eye out September 10 for the official release.

Pure Gold by Boss in Drama

Toronto’s own J-Lah (Justin Lah) just released this super rad remix of the track that blends dutch, disco and electro sounds. With added filter effects, heavy bass and some dutch squeals, J-Lah makes the track club ready for the dance floor.

Interview - Alec Carlsson

Earlier this month we posted Alec Carlsson’s track Paris Fried Chicken, a dance floor monster that had me (and my neighbours) up for days. If you haven’t heard the track, go check it out now, or this interview won’t do justice to his talent.

Straight out of Paris, France, Alec is only 16 years old but produces like a veteran. With other emerging young talent like Madeon, I really felt the need to know more about Alec, his music, his influences, and his lifestyle. Ten years ago I was an emo teen who sat around listening to Rage Against the Machine and Tool, certainly not an established producer/DJ.

Having already been signed to a number of labels and supported by various artists, Alec is still a down-to-earth and humble guy. And here’s a fun fact: he has 24 cats (each of whom he loves very much). So without giving away all the goods, I present to you Alec Carlsson.

All The Lights – Chasing Colours EP

All the Lights - Chasing Colours

I’m always intrigued by a new sound, especially when that new sound involves remixes by Moonchild and Plastic Plates.

All the Lights are a new indie dance group born straight out of Sydney, Australia. The duo was formed “by chance” in early 2011, making this new EP all the more impressive. Their debut single Chasing Colours has that classic Australian pop flare with a hint of progressive pop flavouring, strengthened by moody vocals and a slight 80s touch feel.

Their selection of remixers gives the EP some real depth, with a crunchy electro bit from Ian Carey, a classic disco house banga from Moonchild, and a slowed synth take by the increasingly popular Plastic Plates. Definitely a solid group of collaborators.

Keep an eye out for the Chasing Colours EP on August 12, out via Etc Etc. (On a side note, someone remind me to change my spell check settings to Canadian English so colour stops getting underlined… ;)

Alex Metric & Charli XCX – End Of The World (Russ Chimes Remix)

alex_metric_end_of_the_world

Last month Alex Metric premiered End of the World (ft. Charli XCX) on Annie Mac’s radio show, the latest single off his first ever album Open Your Eyes, set to be released on August 22. An album of remixes and productions, Open Your Eyes is basically a compilation of his work from the past 2 years, and includes remixes of Phoenix’s Lisztomania, N.E.R.D.’s Hypnotize U, and Beastie Boys’ Sabotage, to name a few.

This Alex Metric track really showcases the versatility of his productions with its moody melody, heavy synth line, and sultry vocals from Charli XCX. Preview the track on the Annie Mac radio rip below.

Russ Chimes’ remix turns it up a notch as he strays from his usual nu disco sound and creates a real electro joint. I love the high pitched vocals and the excitement he builds throughout the track.

Knight One - Once Upon A Time Starts Now

The story of Knight One begins, with this three track soundscape that further illustrates the dutch producers’ versatility in the disco/filter/french house field.

While all three are beautiful tracks, they all are unique next to each other, really offering quite a journey when listened to front to back.

Hearts Of Oak, super chill, beautifully ambient with a fat and funky bassline to keep the mood high and lively.

Bringing the tempo down the furthest out of the three, Silver Shades Of Light offers an ultra-smooth touch, with an early 90’s saxophone for that timeless sex appeal that only a brass wind instrument can offer. This one really fills the room with the extended use of filters, loving the warmth on this track.

Heritage (Life Could Be) picks you up off the floor, driving energy straight to your feet in this wonderfully filtered disco house joint. Delicious in the headphones, bangin in the club.

Knight One – ” Once Upon A Time Starts Now “ by Knight One

These tracks will eventually all be available for free, currently Hearts of Oak is up for DL, Shades Of Light will be available on July 28th and Heritage (Life Could Be) is set for August 4th. A great release, follow him on facebook to stay updated on these soon-to-be free jams and his other future work, he doesn’t dissappoint.

Excellent submission this morning, more music from Malaysia. Until recently I had no idea what kind of music they played, produced or listened to. Well judging by this and a couple other submissions we’ve received, they have an amazing nu disco scene going on right now.

The Liszt’s Project is one man, who has decided to remain anonymous at the moment. Which is fine with me as long as you keep producing these delicious jams. How did you know the key to my heart was a nice fat bassline? Spose it’s no secret…

Kimbra - Cameo Lover (Shook Remix)

Shook never ceases to amaze me. First of all, he’s an amazing producer. Second of all, all the people he works with are amazing artists. This all makes for amazing music.

Cameo Lover is the new single off New Zealand born singer/songwriter Kimbra’s forthcoming debut album Vows. Soulful vocals with a jazz influence have shaped much of Kimbra’s music to date, with a soul-pop sound strengthened by her four piece band. Shook adds a more upbeat feel in his remix, adding synth layers, a funky bassline and a foot shufflin’ beat. This was an exclusive track on the lovely Sheena Beaston blog, so head over for a download!

Arcade Fire is definitely one of my favourite bands of all time. The humble and modest Canadian group just know how to make amazing music. It’s as simple as that.

Now we’re a couple weeks late with this one, but when it comes to sexy jams, it’s better late than never (thanks Laura for showing this to me). Mr. Little Jeans, who is actually Norwegian singer Ms. Monica Birkenes, has created a dreamy remix of Arcade Fire’s The Suburbs. Deep and dark synths combined with soft vocals lend to a magical track that makes you want to cry because it’s so beautiful. It’s slowed to a crawl but you still never want it to end, and it doesn’t have to if you download it below.

I don’t know if it’s just me, but it seems like so many amazingly talented artists come out of Antibe, and M83, aka Anthony Gonzales, is one of those people.

His new track Midnight City is the first single off his new double album Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming, out on October 18 (which will coincide nicely with his North American fall tour). The distorted lead synth sound with that opening build seriously gives me the chills. Soft spoken lyrics, synths, reverb effects, sax solos – you really have to listen to this song 20 times to fully appreciate everything that is going on in the track. You can download it for free off the M83 website or from his Facebook page. Love the 80s shoegazing style.

Alexandre Louvré - Talking About You (Pleasurelove Remix)

Downtempo’ed french house, it’s a wonderful thing. As opposed to the pumping and euphoric sound of the mother genre, jams like this take it down to an ultimately sensual level, smooth and dripping in sex appeal. We’ve taken akin to labeling it as Sextouch.

Justin Faust - Girl Talk EP

You know you’ve been waiting for it, and now the time is here.

German Justin Faust’s second EP on Discotexas has been released, and as expected the whole thing is ace, front to back.

The title track is just delicious, a unique blend of nu disco and french house with big punch and some damn sexy synths. Love this, also reminds me of his amazing remix of Le Zebra’s Mind Tricks.

Get Down is self explanatory. Press play, get down, all night.

High Hopes feels like an epic quest through an alien city on some distant future planet, if that future was 1985.

GLOVES just kills it with this one, pumping attitude and funk in with each beat. Make sure you listen on 10.

Rimmer London Put Your Gun Away

Wow, I’m having way too much fun with this this morning.

Rimer London just released his new video for Put Your Gun Away, featuring South African singer Cata Pirata. Created by Mr. Boonstra and Parra, the animations are unexplainable yet entertaining as the “video takes us through a world inspired by French synth-pop where Rimer London and Cata Pirata battle it out in a “carnival cut-out” by means of Parra’s iconic characters.”

My favourite part has been making me and Wicks characters in the video. Cheesy I know, but you too can be part of the video whilst wasting away valuable working hours. Check ours out here, or make your own Parra vid.

Also, if you haven’t heard his track Love Dagger also featuring Cata Pirata check it out below – it’s awesome.
