Jackie VS Kreap – Yelle Remix EP // Remix86 Exclusive

Jackie vs Kreap - Yelle Remix EP

If you recall, we opened up the new year with Kreap’s remix of Comme Un Enfant by Yelle, which was the first track of a gradual release of the Yelle Remix EP, a project by Kreap and Jackie. Well, we thought this was a fantastic idea and decided to get more involved, with a Remix86 exclusive.

Two producers, three remixes each, and we will release two remixes a week. Both of these dudes will remix the same Yelle track each week, showcasing each of their own unique styles and providing greater variations to Yelle’s work.

But why Yelle? If you’ve been following her antics you might’ve heard about the recently closed remix contest, which had a part in the start of this project.

Kreap – “We decided to remix it because the material became available. I already had one acapella and there were 2 more in a remix contest. I had been busy doing remixes for people and missed the deadline so I was really pissed because I love Yelle. Jackie felt the same so we talked about it. The other tracks are tut vut lute and bla bla bla, I dont know what they are called, that’s what makes this so fun for me. I have no f**king idea what shes saying but I just feel her phrasing and mood in the vocals. I connect with her… I hope? I’d love to get some feedback from someone french speaking.”

I think there might be more than a few readers out there that relate to the fantastic energy that Yelle emits, myself included, regardless of her language and lyrical meaning. And to be honest, I don’t think I’ve ever encountered as many great remixes of one artist than I have of this French vocalist. So what will this EP achieve? Feet movin’ fun.

Kreap – “I think the theme to the EP is just to make Yelle into balls and all dance tracks. I couldn’t give a f**k about trying to be cool and slow this shit down. I wanted to make her voice move with energy and create some funky vibes for dancers. Dancers are my main priority, I remix for them. Not to sound like anything or anyone. Each track has its own personality, I’m half way through my last 2 and I think my 3 are hitting different areas of what I like about dance music. Some are more boogie and some are more disco. I hope dj’s and funk and boogie heads love this, it’s for them.”

Kreap and Jackie have a bit of history, one with great musical chemistry.

Jackie – “We have met each other about 7-8 years ago on a chat/collaboration tool. I liked what Ben has been doing and vice versa, I guess. We are in contact since then, thanks to the internet. It’s definitely not our first collaboration. We have known each other many years now and done a lot music bits together, I hope for more in 2012″

So, with the first remix down, it’s time to enjoy the second remix, a retro/future ride tinged with a synthy 80′s spirit and cemented together with the pop prowess of Yelle. Jackie be killin’ it.

Be sure to follow both of these producers and stay tuned for the next dance floor shaker.
