If you’re a child of the 90s, you likely remember the following things: Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Goosebumps, the Macarena, Tamagotchis, and slap bracelets. And if you’re like me, you probably spent a whole Saturday morning sitting by your radio waiting to tape Donna Lewis’ I Love You Always Forever off Casey Kasem’s American Top 40.
As a fan of nostalgic references and throwbacks, I was giddy to hear N8 ST9’s take on this 90s pop tune. Akin to an RAC track, filled with holistic synths and airy xylophone sounds, this nameless Santa Cruz producer puts a modern electronic twist on one of my all-time favourite sleepover songs.
Speaking of throwbacks, and going a little before my time, I also have to share this Lane 8 Rework of Fleetwood Mac’s Go Your Own Way. A funky take on this classic rock track, Lane 8 slows it down with a deep bass hook and dreamy synth stabs.
And as a side note, Donna Lewis was a total babe. I wonder what she looks like these days?
